Heat take chance on G Livingston
Basketball Betting Lines
10/04/2008 -
Miami, FL (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Miami Heat signed former Los Angeles Clippers guard Shaun Livingston on Friday to an undisclosed contract.
Livingston has not played since a gruesome knee injury sidelined him in
February 2007. The 23-year-old underwent successful reconstructive left knee
surgery but did not participate in the 2007-08 season.
The Peoria, Illinois native, who decided against attending college after his
draft stock rose due to a prolific high school career, tore the anterior
cruciate ligament, posterior cruciate ligament, medial collateral ligament and
lateral meniscus when landing awkwardly on a drive to the basket in a game
against Charlotte. The 6-foot-7 combo guard also suffered a patella
dislocation, in addition to a previously diagnosed tibia/femoral dislocation.
Livingston, the fourth overall selection in the 2004 NBA Draft of the
Clippers, averaged 7.4 points and 4.8 assists in 145 games -- 60 starts -- in
three seasons with LA.
The Heat also requested waivers on guard Tre Kelley on Friday.
